10 DAYS BIRDING SAFARI
Day 1
After break fast,meet our tour guide who will drive you to Lake Mburo National park,the place with acacia-trees which is a home for over 300 bird species recorded making it a birders paradise. Arrive in the late morning for a game drive,look out for bare-faced go-away bird, mosque swallows, black-bellied bustard and Ruppell’s long-tailed sterling.Have lunch;drive along Lake Side track and Kigambira Loop. Expect birds like the rare papyrus yellow warbler, Nubian Woodpecker, Spot-flanked Barbet, Northern Black Tit, Blue-naped Mouse bird, Green-capped Eremomela, Ross’ Turaco, Red-headed Lovebird and many more. Overnight at Mantana Tented Camp / Rwonyo Camp.
Day 2
Go for a forest walk in Rubango forest aWith a habitats of a variety of bird species Species including the double-toothed barbet, narina trogon, Grey-backed cameroptera, green pigeon and harrier hawk. An afternoon ride in a dugout canoe, will reward you with water bird species. Overnight at Mantana Tented Camp / Rwonyo Camp.
Day 3
Drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park- that supports over 340 species with Albertine Rift Endemic species known to occur in Uganda. This also the haven where you can track gigantic mountain gorilla . Arrive Buhoma in the afternoon to bird around Buhoma area.Overnight at a luxurious Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board).
Day 4
Follow River Ivy trail the longest trail in the park to Mubwindi to sport birds like the evergreen forest warbler, Archers robin –chat, Purple-breasted sunbirds, Rufuos –breasted Sparrow hawk, Dwarf- honey guide, crimsonwings, Narrow tailed and slender billed starlings, and many more. An afternoon, walk along the short trail to Mubwindi to search for more birds like the Waller’s starling, Black billed Turacos, White headed wood hoopoe, the spectacular yellow billed barbets, Carruthers’ Cisticola, Bar-tailed trogon, and the localized Grauer’s Rush Warbler. Dinner and overnight at luxurious Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board).
Day 5
Early morning search for nocturnal birds, in Bwindi ; proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park. Retire to the lodge for breakfast and then set off to Queen Elizabeth NP to reach in the afternoon. This park has over 600 bird species.;afternoon birding in the crater area and the Mweya Peninsula to look out for wide spread grass land species such as croaking Cisticola, Marsh Tchagra, harriers such as Pallid and montagu’s and many others. Overnight at luxurious Mweya Lodge/budget Institute of Ecology (FB).
Day 6
Drive to Lake Kikorongo/Kasenyi track for more birding in the park,expect the Herons, Common Squacco, sacred and Glossy Ibises birds in the Kikorongo Area. The Kasenyi track with its grass plains supporta large numbers of stork in seasons as well as raptors such as brown snaked eagle. Retire from the game drive for lunch at the lodge; afternoon boat cruise trip on the Kazinga channel to Lake Edward. This will reward you with Mongolian plovers, Eurasian Honey Bizzard, African morning dove, Common Teal and Winged Plover birds, and many more. Also view game like hippos, buffaloes, and many more. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 7
Have breakfast ,head to Kibale national park- a large protected rainforest that offers variety of bird species. Lunch, head to Bigodi wetland sanctuary for afternoon birding at Magombe swamp, to search for birds like green buls, Narina’s trogon, papyrus gonolek, various barbets, woodpeckers, blue-throated roller, grey-backed black finch, grey parrot, bronze sunbird, white winged warbler, black-crowned waxbill, swamp flycatcher, and papyrus canary. Overnight at Ndali Lodge/budget Rwenzori View guest house.
Day 8
Go birding in the Kayankyu area to search for birds like the Noisy flocks of parrots, Uganda woodland warbler, African Goshawk, the majestic crowned eagle, Masked Apalis, Black necked weaver. You retire to the lodge for breakfast, to carry packed lunch and then drive off to Murchison falls. To reach the top of the falls in the evening to see how the calm Nile turns into the thunderous roar as it forces its self through the narrow gorge. While at the top of the falls watch out for birds like Sparrow, -weaver, Long-tailed nightjars, Brown twin-spot and many more. Transfer to Paraa Safari Lodge for Dinner and overnight.
Day 9
Have breakfast and get prepared for a boat cruise down stream along the Nile at 9:00 am . The trip will offer you with game like crocodiles, hippos buffaloes and birds like Goliath Herons, Saddle-billed stork, African Spoonbill, fulvous and White faced whistling ducks, Spur-winged Geese, and many more, Buff-bellied Warbler, Black-headed Batis, the Blue-naped Moosebird, Black-headed Gonolek, Yellow-throated Leaf love, Red-winged, White-crested Turaco Chestnut-crowned Sparrow-weaver, and double-toothed Barbet. In the afternoon you will bird around the Lodge Paraa. Overnight at a luxurious Paraa Safari Lodge/budget Red chili camp (Full Board)
Day 10
Go birding on the northern game circuit for birds before you embark on the journey back to Kampala . As you drive to Kampala you have a stop at the Equator for photographs and then proceed to reach in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Hotel / Serena Hotel .
